<title>Jiminuk's music...</title>

<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/5692.html</link>
<description>Well, this is a cover! (The original is by Matchbox 20)

It started out as a backing track that I was doing for myself... then progressed onto a backing track for my band (which is now a 3 piece), and then finally I thought I may as well complete it by adding my vocals and guitar!

At the moment, I'm spending so much of my time working on the band material that I rarely have time to complete any of my own stuff... hence posting this - thought you could have a sample of what I've been up to.

Comments would be great.
Vote if you feel it deserves it.

<title>A Lighter Shade of..</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/2562.html</link>
<description>A Lighter Shade of Blue

This is a really rough draft of a song I've had knocking around since the start of the year, but can't quite get the way I want. It has no bass and no drums, and the recording quality is far from the best!!!

Lyrics are posted here: http://forum.bandamp.com/Lyrics_Review/16220.html

Tell me what you think - should I carry on and record it properly, or not bother?

Comments please,

<title>A Lighter shade (v2)</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/2619.html</link>
<description>Full title:
A Lighter Shade of Blue

So, it's been re-done (a second time!) - I've added drums and bass, and rerecorded the acoustic and lead guitars.

This really is a three chord wonder, just A D &amp; E - with a couple of substitutions here and there!

Comments please - and if you feel like it, then vote too :)

<title>Chances (version 2)</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/1811.html</link>
<description>&quot;Taking No Chances&quot;

This is a re-recorded version of the song. This one's been re-mixed to remove some anomalies in the sound (forgive the indulgence - I just couldn't keep the other version on the site!), and has had loads of extras thrown in - mostly in the vocals.

This song also features drums by PuppetXeno (thanks Puppet, for your time and patience)!

Listen, critique, (and vote)

Jim ;)

<title>Coming Back</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/6377.html</link>
<description>I thought I'd celebrate coming back to BandAmp by uploading a song. I't a simple ditti that really started as a practise for prgramming the drums. Musically, this is a play around in A - so far this is what I've got.
I do plan to add vocals, but for some reason words escape me at the moment, so there are no lyrics written.

Let me know what you think

<title>Complete Control</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/2796.html</link>
<description>Some time was spent on this one - it's come out fairly well I think.

Thanks to a couple of people who made comments on the earlier (instrumental) version of this track, especially:
PX - I redid the bass, and &quot;tidied up&quot; the guitar work that got sloppier as the song progressed.
JimK - the bass has been dropped a little in the mix, but I still wanted it prominent, so haven't lowered it that much!

For any who are interested:
The drums are looped together using RiffWorks
Instrumental effects are through a Pod XT live
All guitars, including the bass, are recorded using a Line 6 Variax 600.

Thanks for listening. Hope you enjoy.

<title>Howl at the Wind</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/5204.html</link>
<description>This is my &quot;interpretation&quot; of Rackdaemon's SYNCHD in E
A pretty hard hitting rock track that I just had to do vocals on... ;)

Lyrics are available HERE

OK, there are others whose voice is probably better suited but hell, I enjoyed making it!
Hope you enjoy it too.

And of course, thanks to Rackdaemon in the first place for posting such a great bit of music.

<title>Last Night</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/1620.html</link>
<description>Another experiment in recording (still with the old soundcard). This one turned out a little better I think!

It's still a little muddly in the mix - and for some reason, the bass doesn't seem to stand out as much as I wanted. The drums were added using Fruity Loops (another experiment)

See what you think

<title>Let Our Love ........</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/3039.html</link>
<description>Let Our Love Rock!

Yes - it's the same song that Flyer posted. A collaboration between me and him.
There are a couple of differences such as....... well, you'll hear!
The main reason for me doing this is that on the version Flyer posted my vocals suck BIG TIME!!! So I've redone them here.

Although he doesn't seem to want to take credit for it, this really is Ralph's song - all I did was add a bit of music.

Hope you enjoy

<title>Mustang Sally - Cover</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/6383.html</link>
<description>This is an example of one of the things I've been up to; as the title says, it's Wilson Pickett's &quot;Mustang Sally&quot; recorded by my band. It's a first mix, done via some (reasonable) headphones, so sorry if it's a bit off
The lead vocals, guitar and bass were recorded live and in one take to a backing track that I created. The drums were played too, but not recorded in the mix (cos they're just too tough to get right in my garage/rehearsal room); they were added post recording using Cubase's LM-7.
Oh, and this was recorded on a laptop too...

Plus, I thought it was a laugh doing it!
Me, my guitar, and drums a la Fruity

Enjoy

<title>Redish house - live!!!</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/6636.html</link>
<description>This was played for laughs at a party I had on the 2nd Aug. It's a version of &quot;Red House&quot; (so yet another cover.... sorry) - played by my band Weird Habitz. Featuring Andy R on bass, Donald S on drums, and yours truly on guitar and vox.
OK, the recording's not that good (balance is out big time due to the way it was recorded)... and the guitar playing's not too good either... but, hey we sure had fun!
Oh... in case you didn't know, it's a very simple blues number
Hope you enjoy

<title>TAMF (Jiminuk's Mix)</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/3274.html</link>
<description>Full Title -
Thrown Away My Face.

This is a song by PuppetXeno, which I had the pleasure to mix from the raw tracks :)

There are a couple of additions to vocals by me, but not so you'd notice, and there are a lot of effects applied to the whole mix.

For those of you who weren't around at the time, this was one of the entries in a mixing competition hosted by PX. It was really great fun to do - and I can recommend taking part in one of these completions to anyone that wants to learn about their own software and how to get the best out of it - just doing this taught me loads!

Thank you Puppet for writing the song in the first place, letting me tinker with it as I pleased, and finally for letting me post it on this site.

Listen, comment, vote, but most of all just enjoy
:)

Note: for those of you who have listened to my own music, this is nothing like it!!!

<title>Teaser (Wisdom_Jiminuk)</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/4691.html</link>
<description>Thought I'd put this one up on the site. It's a collaboration between Wisdom and myself, that was recorded some time last year.

The vocals have been re-recorded from the original song that Wisdom put up, and so this has ended up being a fairly different mix to his version.

For those interested:
Wisdom wrote and recorded all the instrumental parts (and put it up as a &quot;teaser&quot; for others to add lyrics to). All power to him for a great bit of music.
I wrote the lyrics, and did all the vocals.

But it's really Wisdom's song.
Hope you like my version of it
:D

<title>What Do You Expect?</title>
<link>http://forum.bandamp.com/Audio_Review/4676.html</link>
<description>Very much &quot;tongue in cheek&quot; stuff, very quickly knocked together using Adobe Audition.
Virtually no processing on this, and minimal mixing.
I'll probably end up re-doing most of this, but would like to know what people think.
:)
